West Virginia defense dominant in road opener

No.4 West Virginia won their road opener 27-10 at East Carolina at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium on Saturday.

The Mountaineers did not cover the 21-point spread on the road, and the 37 points scored was UNDER the posted total of 55.

Pat White went 17-for-24 for 216 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions, and Steve Slaton ran 24 times for 80 yards for the Mountaineers.

James Pinkney was 20-for-40 for 247 yards, one score and one pick, and Philip Henry caught six balls for 54 yards for the Pirates.
