Eagles soar past Pirates

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles scored two unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter to beat the East Carolina Pirates 28-21 Saturday night.

The favored Golden Eagles were able to cover the 2-point spread on the night, and the final TD put the game OVER the posted 46.5-point total.

Jeremy Young went 18-for-28 for 237 yards with one touchdown and one interception for the Eagles. Damion Fletcher ran for 114 yards on 27 carries to lead Southern Miss to their second win of the season.

Patrick Pinkney threw for 208 yards on the day, going 20-for-34 with two touchdowns and one interception for the Pirates in the loss.
