Marshall Falls 65-59 to Pirates - Recap
Shane Carden's 439-yard performance through the air was the key in East Carolina's 65-59 win over Marshall on Friday at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
The Pirates earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the 6.5-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 71.5 were rewarded with a winning wager.
Vintavious Cooper rushed for 52 yards, while Reggie Bullock added 39 yards in the win. Justin Hardy and Jabril Solomon added 171 and 86 receiving yards respectively.
Essray Taliaferro rushed for 130 yards for Marshall, while Blake Frohnapfel added 62 yards. Rakeem Cato threw for 318 yards for the Thundering Herd, while receivers Tommy Shuler and Aaron Dobson had 141 and 61 yards respectively.
East Carolina lost the offensive yardage battle to Marshall 633-555 yards in Friday's game. Marshall had more first downs as that total ended up 36-31.
The time of possession battle favored East Carolina as their offense was on the field for 31:24, longer than the 28:36 of their opponents.
