Mountaineers Fall 50-49 Against Oklahoma - Game Recap
Landry Jones threw for 554 yards to lead the Sooners over West Virginia 50-49 on Saturday in Week 12 action at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium.
Oklahoma did not, however, defeat the Mountaineers against the spread, which closed at 10.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 72.5.
Damien Williams rushed for 92 yards, while Blake Bell added 12 yards in the win. Jalen Saunders and Justin Brown added 123 and 112 receiving yards respectively.
Tavon Austin rushed for 344 yards for West Virginia, while Geno Smith added 52 yards. Geno Smith threw for 320 yards for the Mountaineers, while receivers Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin had 205 and 82 yards respectively.
Oklahoma was outgained by West Virginia 778-662 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 32-30 by the Mountaineers.
Oklahoma led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 33:01/26:59 split in that important category.
Next game, Oklahoma takes its act home to face Oklahoma State looking for another win. For West Virginia, they head on the road to face Iowa State.
