Ducks hang on to beat WSU
The No. 11 Oregon Ducks survived a late rally by the Washington State Cougars Saturday night, escaping Martin Stadium with a 34-31 win.
Oregon was a 3 1/2-point favorite, and the final score slipped OVER the posted total (61).
The Ducks carried a 31-21 lead into the fourth quarter before the Cougars tied the game with just over five minutes remaining. Then Oregon drove 73 yards to put Paul Martinez in position to kick the winning field goal with one second on the clock.
With the loss, WSU falls to 0-7 in Pac-10 play, while Oregon improves to 6-1.
