Bulldogs bite San Jose State
The No. 21 Fresno State Bulldogs put a hurting on the San Jose State Spartans Saturday night, winning 45-7.
Fresno State got paid as a 33-point favorite. The final score skimmed UNDER the posted total (57).
Bulldogs quarterback Paul Pinegar put his name in the school record books, throwing three touchdown passes to tie David Carr with 70 career majors. Pinegar also ran for a score.
The Spartans lost to their ancient rivals for the 12th time in a row, a streak of futility dating back to 1990. They managed just 54 yards passing on the day, compared to 372 for Pinegar.
Al Guidry romped 29 yards for San Jose's lone touchdown, part of a career-high 65 yards on the evening.
