Broncos slip past Cowboys in overtime
Jason Elam’s overtime field goal Thursday gave the Denver Broncos a 24-21 win over the Dallas Cowboys in a Thanksgiving Day contest.
The Broncos, favored by 2.5 points on the road, managed to cover the posted spread. The game’s combined score went OVER the posted total (41).
Broncos QB Jake Plummer went 15-of-24 for 162 yards passing in the win, finding Rod Smith in the end zone and getting intercepted once. Ron Dayne ran for a Denver score, and Champ Bailey returned an interception for a touchdown.
For the Cowboys, Drew Bledsoe completed 29-of-44 pass attempts for 232 yards in the loss, with two TD passes and two interceptions. Bledsoe ran for a score on the day, while Keyshawn Johnson and Jason Whitten each had TD catches.
