Steelers defeat Lions
The Pittsburgh Steelers clinched a spot in the playoffs Sunday afternoon by defeating the Detroit Lions 35-21.
The Steelers had been favored by 16.5-points in the game, but were unable to cover the large spread. The combined score was OVER the posted over/under total (36.5).
Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger completed 7-of-16 passes for 135 yards with two interceptions, while rushing in for a touchdown. Jerome Bettis rushed for three touchdowns and 41 yards on 10 carries.
Joey Harrington completed 17-of-33 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns for Detroit. Marcus Pollard caught four passes for 50 yards and a touchdown.
