Leafs upset Wings in opener

Nikolai Kulemin�s third period tally proved to be the winner as the Toronto Maple Leafs upended the defending champion Detroit Red Wings 3-2 in the season-opener Thursday night at Joe Louis Arena.

Toronto won the game as a +255 underdogs, while the five goals went UNDER the posted over/under (5.5).

Pavel Kubina and Dominic Moore had the other goals for the Maple Leafs. Vesa Toskala stopped 35-of-37 shots in the win.

Tomas Holmstrom potted both goals for the Red Wings. Chris Osgood made 26 saves in a losing effort.
