Red Wings get past Sabres

The Detroit Red Wings edged the Buffalo Sabres with two third-period goals, winning 3-1 at Joe Louis Arena Saturday night.

Detroit won as a -265 home favorite while the final score played under the 5.5-goal total.

Mikael Samuelsson and Marian Hossa scored in the final frame to secure the win for the Wings. Jiri Hudler also scored in the second period.

Derek Roy scored the only goal for the Sabres which was his 16th of the season. Goaltender Ryan Miller faced 48 shots in the defeat.
