Colorado Ices Ottawa 7-1 - Recap
The battle between the Avalanche and Senators didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Ottawa was handed a 7-1 defeat on Thursday at Scotiabank Place.
Colorado won as a +135 underdog, while Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 5.5 were rewarded at the payout window.
Joakim Lindstrom (2), Milan Hejduk, Daniel Winnik, David Jones, Matt Duchene, and Gabriel Landeskog each scored for the Avalanche in the victory. Hejduk opened the scoring for Colorado, finding the back of the net at 7:04 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Erik Johnson and Paul Stastny.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 15 of 16 Ottawa shots in the victory.
Milan Michalek scored for the Senators, finding the net behind Jean-Sebastien Giguere.
Craig Anderson stopped 32 of 39 shots for the Senators, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, Colorado went 4-for-6, while the Senators were 1-for-4 with the man advantage.
Colorado outshot Ottawa 39-16 in the game.
Next game, Colorado takes its act on the road to face Montreal looking for another win. For Ottawa, they head on the road to face Washington.
