Jason LaBarbera stopped 32 of 34 shots for the Coyotes, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, San Jose went 1-for-2, while the Coyotes were 0-for-1 with the man advantage.
Phoenix lost the shots on goal battle to San Jose by a margin of 34-29.
San Jose looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Canucks. The Coyotes will aim to get back on the winning track vs Los Angeles.
