The Panthers came up short Friday against the Flames, falling 4-3 in a shootout.

The win was clinched by Sean Monahan, who beat Tim Thomas in a shootout to gain the extra point in the standings for Calgary. Blair Jones, Joe Colborne, and Sven Baertschi each scored for the Flames in the victory. Colborne opened the scoring for Calgary, finding the back of the net at 9:00 of the second period. The goal was assisted by David Jones.

Reto Berra turned in a 23-save effort for the Flames.

Marcel Goc, Tom Gilbert, and Jimmy Hayes scored for the Panthers, finding the net behind Reto Berra.

Tim Thomas stopped 21 of 24 shots for the Panthers, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, Calgary went 1-for-2, while the Panthers were 0-for-4 with the man advantage.

Calgary lost the shots on goal battle to Florida by a margin of 26-24.

Next game, Calgary takes its act home to face Chicago looking for another win. For Florida, they head home to face Philadelphia.
