The battle between the Hurricanes and Panthers didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Florida was handed a 5-1 defeat on Friday at PNC Arena.

Alexander Semin, Jiri Tlusty, Andrej Sekera, Riley Nash, and Brett Bellemore each scored for the Hurricanes in the victory. Nash opened the scoring for Carolina, finding the back of the net at 9:17 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Tuomo Ruutu.
Anton Khudobin stopped 34 of 35 Florida shots in the victory.
Nick Bjugstad scored for the Panthers, finding the net behind Anton Khudobin.
Florida got a 17-stop effort from Scott Clemmensen in the loss.
On the power play, Carolina went 1-for-3, while the Panthers were 0-for-4 with the man advantage.
Florida outshot Carolina 35-32 in the game.
Carolina heads into a battle against the Canadiens. Florida, meanwhile, will have their next action against Washington.
