Colorado Ices Buffalo 7-1 - Recap
The battle between the Avalanche and Sabres didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Buffalo was handed a 7-1 defeat on Saturday at Pepsi Center.
The Avalanche were a -210 favorite in the win. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 5.5.
Jamie McGinn (2), Gabriel Landeskog (2), Marc-Andre Cliche, Tyson Barrie, and Nathan MacKinnon each scored for the Avalanche in the victory. Barrie opened the scoring for Colorado, finding the back of the net at 7:37 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Nathan MacKinnon.
Semyon Varlamov turned in a 27-save effort for the Avalanche.
Matt D'Agostini scored for the Sabres, finding the net behind Semyon Varlamov.
Ryan Miller stopped 22 of 27 shots for the Sabres, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, Colorado went 2-for-6, while the Sabres were 1-for-5 with the man advantage.
Buffalo lost the shots on goal battle to Colorado by a margin of 39-28.
Colorado looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Devils. The Sabres will aim to get back on the winning track vs Edmonton.
