Colorado vs New York Recap - Rangers Win 5-1
The battle between the Rangers and Avalanche didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Colorado was handed a 5-1 defeat on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers were a -163 favorite in the win. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 5.5.
Ryan Callahan (2), Brad Richards, Derick Brassard, and Anton Stralman each scored for the Rangers in the victory. Callahan opened the scoring for New York, finding the back of the net at 14:16 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Carl Hagelin.
Henrik Lundqvist turned in a 27-save effort for the Rangers.
Colorado got a goal from Gabriel Landeskog in the loss, but it wasn't enough.
Semyon Varlamov stopped 38 of 43 shots for the Avalanche, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, New York went 0-for-3, while the Avalanche were 1-for-3 with the man advantage.
New York outshot Colorado 43-28 in the game.
Next game, New York takes its act home to face Edmonton looking for another win. For Colorado, they head on the road to face Philadelphia.
