The battle between the Lightning and Kings didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Los Angeles was handed a 5-1 defeat on Tuesday at Tampa Bay Times Forum.
The Lightning were a +100 underdog in the win. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 5.5.
Martin St. Louis (2), Ryan Malone, Teddy Purcell, and Ondrej Palat each scored for the Lightning in the victory. Malone opened the scoring for Tampa Bay, finding the back of the net at 0:19 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Sami Salo and Martin St. Louis.
Ben Bishop stopped 30 of 31 Los Angeles shots in the victory.
Los Angeles got a goal from Slava Voynov in the loss, but it wasn't enough.
Jonathan Quick stopped 14 of 17 shots for the Kings, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, Tampa Bay went 0-for-3, while the Kings were 0-for-5 with the man advantage.
Los Angeles outshot Tampa Bay 31-25 in the game.
Next game, Tampa Bay takes its act home to face Minnesota looking for another win. For Los Angeles, they head on the road to face Nashville.
