Washington needed a shootout to earn a 5-4 victory over Calgary on Thursday in NHL action at Verizon Center.

Karri Ramo stopped 35 of 39 shots for the Flames, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

Washington scored 2 times on 3 chances on the power play, while Calgary went 1-for-5 with the man advantage.
