The win was clinched by P.A. Parenteau, who beat Ondrej Pavelec in a shootout to gain the extra point in the standings for Colorado. Matt Duchene (2) and Ryan O'Reilly each scored for the Avalanche in the victory. Duchene opened the scoring for Colorado, finding the back of the net at 15:08 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Ryan O'Reilly and Nate Guenin.
Semyon Varlamov stopped 35 of 38 Winnipeg shots in the victory.
Winnipeg got goals from Blake Wheeler (2) and Michael Frolik in the loss, but it wasn't enough.
Ondrej Pavelec stopped 23 of 26 shots for the Jets, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, Colorado went 0-for-2, while the Jets were 2-for-6 with the man advantage.
Colorado lost the shots on goal battle to Winnipeg by a margin of 38-26.
Next game, Colorado takes its act home to face Minnesota looking for another win. For Winnipeg, they head home to face Dallas.
