Andrew Luck proved to be every bit as good as advertised last season, passing for 4,374 yards and 23 touchdowns while leading Indianapolis to an 11-5 SU and ATS season. Considering the Colts were coming off of a 2-14 season the year before, the turnaround was pretty remarkable. Offseason moves to add weapons around Luck and bolster the offensive line should make the offense even more potent in 2013, but the defense could be what separates the Colts from the elite tier in the NFL. Still, if Houston falters atop the AFC South, Indianapolis should be there to pick up the pieces.
Indianapolis Colts 2012-2013 Season Odds
It's safe to say the entire Indianapolis Colts franchise imploded last season. With Peyton Manning sidelined for the entire season after multiple neck surgeries the Colts posted the worst record in the NFL at 2-14. That snapped their nine-year playoff streak and ended the Manning era in Indy.
Odds to win AFC South: 18/1
Without Manning at the helm the Colts offense ranked 30th in the league, averaging only 286.8 yards per game. Manning wasn't the only one let go as the Colts cleaned house and dumped the Polian's Bill and Chris and head coach Jim Caldwell. Former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano takes over the new look Colts.
The Andrew Luck era begins in Indianapolis, as the Colts hope he works out as well as the last QB they took with the first overall pick. Luck will have two veteran receivers to work with in Reggie Wayne and Austin Collie, as well as his Stanford tight end, Coby Fleener.
The Indianapolis running game is now firmly in the hands of Donald Brown after veteran Joseph Addai moved on to New England. Brown rushed for 645 yards last season and will be seeing full-time starter minutes for the first time in his career.
The Colts defense was nearly as bad as their defense last season, ranking 25th in the league after allowing 370.9 yards per game. Indianapolis was especially bad against the run again last year, finishing 29th against the ground attack and allowing 143.9 yards per game. Veterans like Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney could be on their last legs in Indianapolis as the Colts will have to start to rebuild the defense to match their now much younger offense.

Indianapolis Colts 2011-2012 Season Odds Preview
No team in football has had a more clear stranglehold on their division over the last eight years than the Indianapolis Colts. Last season’s 10-6 record broke a streak of seven straight seasons with at least 12 wins, but it was still enough to earn Indianapolis their seventh AFC South title in the last eight years.
The main reason for this dominance, of course, is future hall-of-fame quarterback Peyton Manning. One of the biggest stories this offseason has been Manning’s recovery from neck surgery, and whether it will force him to miss time or affect his game.
Odds to Win AFC: 9/1
Pure and simple, Peyton Manning is the Indianapolis Cols. He is the face of the franchise, the leader, and they key cog that makes it all work. Last season, key players were dropping like flies around him, with Austin Collie, Dallas Clark, and Joseph Addai all missing significant time; yet Manning and the Colts were able to persevere and win the AFC South.
Kerry Collins was brought in as an insurance policy in case Peyton Manning can’t start the season or needs to miss time during the year, but it’s hard to fathom things staying afloat without Manning under center.
That isn’t to say that the rest of the Colts aren’t talented, as Reggie Wayne leads a great corps of wide receivers. But Manning has never missed a start over the course of his 14-year career, and not having him would deal a huge emotional blow.
The defense struggled last season, especially against the run, giving up 127 yards per game on the ground. Injuries were partially to blame for the struggles, but the Colts' defensive statistics have been getting progressively worse each year since 2007; a disturbing trend that could be even more apparent if Peyton Manning misses time.
It’s hard to bet against Peyton Manning playing, as we’ve seen him tough it out through every other injury he’s ever had. Without him at 100%, the door could be open for Houston to challenge for the AFC South title. But until Manning is sitting on that bench, this is still his and the Colts’ division to lose.
