Washington was one of the NFL’s best stories last season, finishing the regular season 7-0 SU and ATS to claim their first NFC East division title in over a decade. Rookie of the year Robert Griffin III had his season ended by a severe knee injury, but he is expected to be ready to go for the Redskins on opening day. If Griffin’s knee injury doesn’t slow him down, he and Alfred Morris should again combine to lead one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL, which would put Washington in the running for another NFC East title.
Washington Redskins 2012-2013 Season Odds
After trying to return to relevancy behind middling veteran quarterbacks such as Donovan McNabb, Rex Grossman and John Beck the last few season the Washington Redskins finally admitted defeat and drafted a quarterback for now and the future.
Odds to win NFC East: +900
The QB was obviously Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III who will be tasked with rejuvenating a Redskins team that finished 5-11 last season. He can't be much worse than Grossman, who passed for 3151 yards last season with 16 touchdowns and 20 interceptions in 13 games.
Santana Moss remains as a veteran presence among the Redskins receivers, while Pierre Garcon was pouched from Indianapolis. Washington also has two solid tight ends in starter Fred Davis and old veteran Chris Cooley.
The Washington running game was pretty bad last season, averaging only 100.9 yards per game for 25th in the league. Roy Helu led all backs with 640 yards on 151 carries, but he could lose playing time to a now healthy Tim Hightower and the up-and-coming Evan Royster.
The Redskins defense improved last season, but really they had nowhere to go but up after ranking 31st in the league in 2010. In 2011 the defense ranked 13th, allowing 339.8 yards per game.
In a tough NFC East where the Eagles, Giants and Cowboys are all battling for top spot in the division the Redskins look like the odd man out this season, which is why they're a +900 underdog to win the division. If RGIII can add some much needed stability to the quarterback position and grow into the offensive weapon Washington is hoping the Redskins may finally turn the corner and become contenders again.

Washington Redskins 2011-2012 Season Odds Preview
The Redskins are gambling that improved team chemistry in Year 2 under coach Mike Shanahan will boost the team's fortunes after undergoing yet another offseason makeover.
Bettors are gambling they will be big underdogs many weeks and good value for back-door covers and not as a realistic bet on the NFC East odds menu. Gone are high-profile (and expensive) players such as QB Donovan McNabb, DT Albert Haynesworth, and RB Clinton Portis.
Odds to Win NFC East: +2000
Incoming replacements include the quietly consistent RB Tim Hightower, defensive linemen Stephen Bowen and Barry Cofield, and WR Jabar Gaffney, who should team with re-signed veteran Santana Moss to provide reliable downfield targets for whomever starts the season at QB, Rex Grossman or John Beck.
Besides the huge question marks associated with either pivot, there are ongoing concerns about the offensive line's ability to defend the pass rush, and holes to plug in the secondary.
It makes the 20/1 divisional odds and the 125/1 Super Bowl futures longshot number seem like risky bets. Redskins fans may never get the opportunity again for such attractive longshot numbers, so expect them to plunk some cash down.
Although the NFC East will be tough sledding again for the Redskins, they have a relatively soft road schedule with visits to St. Louis, Seattle, Miami, Buffalo and Carolina on their slate.
