Broncos Most Popular Play for Team OddsShark & Entire SuperContest Field

Team OddsShark agrees with the general consensus in Week 4 of the world-famous SuperContest at the Westgate SuperBook. The top overall pick chosen by 963 of the record 2,748 contestants (35 percent) in the SuperContest is the Denver Broncos, who are 2.5-point home favorites hosting the Oakland Raiders in a key AFC West matchup on Sunday. The team loves the Broncos as well, with 12 of the 25 members (48 percent) picking them among their five NFL picks in Week 4. That includes defending group champion Frank Schwab, who has gone 9-1 over the past two weeks.

However, Schwab is the only team member currently ranked in the top six of the group standings who selected Denver, and he also picked the Minnesota Vikings (-2.5), Tennessee Titans (-1.5), Pittsburgh Steelers (-3) and New York Giants (+3). For what it’s worth, seven of the members in the bottom nine also chose the Broncos along with Richard Roeper, Ty Schalter, Kelly Stewart and Rob Pizzola. The Raiders were taken only once by America’s Line creator Ben Eckstein coming off their brutal 27-10 loss to the Washington Redskins in the Week 3 Sunday Night Football game. It’s worth noting that Oakland was the top consensus pick by the field overall in Week 3.

Denver was not the lone Top 5 consensus pick shared between the team and overall field though. The Giants also were a popular play of both groups, picked by seven group members (28 percent) and 726 overall (26 percent) as they visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. New York is third on the Top 5 consensus list, following the Los Angeles Chargers (-1.5) and ahead of the New Orleans Saints (-3) and Cincinnati Bengals (-3). The worse of the two Los Angeles teams was picked 774 times overall (28 percent) but just twice by Team OddsShark members (Ben Maggin and Jon Anik).

Four members of the group have already picked up wins in Week 4, as Roeper, Maggin, Dan Lyons and Sam Panayotovich all earned one point after the Green Bay Packers routed the Chicago Bears 35-14 as 7-point home favorites on Thursday Night Football. Panayotovich actually moved a half-point ahead of Schwab in the team standings with an 11-4-1 mark by picking against his hometown team.
