Seahawks Top Consensus Plays in Week 2 for Team OddsShark

The Seattle Seahawks are the most popular pick in Week 2 of SuperContest at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, and with good reason. The SuperBook had to release the line for the Week 2 SuperContest Card by 5 p.m. (PT) on Wednesday, before it was revised on Thursday with the updated injury status of quarterback Russell Wilson, who was upgraded to probable after injuring his ankle in last week’s 12-10 win over the Miami Dolphins. The Seahawks opened as 3.5-point road favorites visiting the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday before the game was taken off the betting board.

Seattle is now up to -6.5 after re-opening at -6, giving contestants perceived value on Wilson’s team. Out of the record 1,854 entrants in the SuperContest, 541 chose the Seahawks (29 percent) among their five NFL picks for Week 2. For Team OddsShark, the percentage was even higher, with 11 of the 24 members (46 percent) picking them.

Group leader Nick Kostos was not one of them after going a team-best 4-1 in Week 1. Instead, Kostos stayed away from all of the Top 5 SuperContest consensus picks overall, fading a couple of them in backing the San Diego Chargers (-3) and Minnesota Vikings (+2.5) against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Green Bay Packers, respectively. The Packers were the second-most popular consensus play by all contestants, chosen 507 times (27 percent), with the Jaguars ranked third at 426 times (23 percent).

The fourth-highest selected team (419 times) by all entrants in the field is the Kansas City Chiefs (+3) visiting the Houston Texans for the third time in two years. The Chiefs won 27-20 at Houston in last year’s season opener and then blanked the Texans 30-0 in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, although many contestants obviously do not think the home team will get revenge in this spot. Only two members of Team OddsShark selected Kansas City, with more than quadruple that amount siding with Houston (nine), including the Odds Shark Super Computer and OddsShark’s very own Jon Campbell.
