Super Contest Week 9 Computer Picks

Another winning week overall, another losing week in the SuperContest as the Odds Shark Computer limped to a 2-3 ATS finish in Week 8 of the Westgate competition.

Historically, the computer has been better in the second half and it has a lot of ground to make up to chase down the leaders in the prestigious Vegas handicapping contest.

Here is the lineup for Week 9 (lines are set Wednesday for contest purposes, they may have changed at shops such as Bovada).

Patriots +3 vs Broncos – computer says 33-32 Patriots

This is the fifth time since 2002 that the Pats have been home underdogs. Three of the previous four times have been when Peyton Manning comes to town.

The Pats have been awesome the past few weeks and the SU trends favor them big time here (26-3 at home, 14-4 before a bye week and 10-5 in the Tom vs Peyton ledger. Also the home team is 9-1 SU when these teams meet over the years.

Redskins +2.5 at Vikings – computer says 17-15 Redskins

Fade a bad favorite, even when you don’t know who will be the QB for the underdog. The Redskins got an emotional win over the Cowboys and the computer sees an outright win here.

Chargers +1.5 at Miami – computer says 28-21 Chargers

San Diego has lost two in a row and gets dog treatment against inconsistent Miami. The computer says it’s a TD spread, we see it closer than that. But the Chargers are 10-2-1 ATS past 13 as road underdogs (although they failed to cover last week in Denver) and the Dolphins are on a 1-4 ATS run as home chalk.

Steelers +1 vs Ravens – computer says 27.1-26.5 Ravens

The Steelers are 11-2-1 ATS since 2000 as home dogs, and in a divisional battle we take the point in a game where the computer predicts every point will be needed.

Pitt has won five straight divisional home games (4-1 ATS) while the Ravens are 1-5 ATS past six divisional road games. The computer says it’s a dead heat and the Steelers get the extra point from the Westgate oddsmakers. The danger here is the Steelers lapse after putting up 51 on the Colts.

Colts -3.5 at Giants – computer says 30-23 Colts

Speaking of the Colts, they are 8-3 ATS on Monday nights and they enjoy the second-biggest power ranking differential this week (#2 vs #21). The Giants are 2-10 SU as home underdogs since 2004, make it 2-11 SU.
