Team OddsShark Members Struggle Mightily in Week 9 of NFL SuperContest

To say Week 9 of the SuperContest at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook was the roughest to date might be an understatement. The top two entrants in the record field of 1,854 combined to go 2-7-1, opening the door for two others to tie them atop the overall leaderboard as they battle for the grand prize of nearly $900,000 with 31.5 out of 45 points. Eighteen others are within two points of catching them heading into Week 10.

Unfortunately, it was one of the toughest weeks for Team OddsShark too, with only nine members enjoying winning performances and half of the 24 posting losing marks. It was so bad that Nick Kostos actually moved back into sole possession of first place in the group despite going 2-2-1. Kostos is 13-15-2 over the past six weeks following an impressive 11-4 start, but former co-leader Anthony Riccobono dropped a half-point behind him as one of the 12 members to finish with a losing record in Week 9 at 2-3.

The good news is that some Team OddsShark members still found a way to rise to the occasion and moved up in the group standings, including three who went 4-1. Two of those have been the hottest members over the last three weeks in Ben Eckstein (10-5) and Dan Katz (10-4-1), who currently rank fourth and tied for seventh, respectively. Eckstein is only one point back of Kostos for the group lead even though he failed to submit picks in Week 6 because he missed the deadline and ended up going 0-5.

The other team member that went 4-1 in Week 9 was Clay Travis, who moved out of the cellar and into 20th place. That last-place spot is now solely occupied by 2015 group winner David Fucillo, as he went 0-4-1 and has just 15 points with eight weeks left.

In addition, the Top 5 consensus picks went 1-3-1 to end a two-week winning streak, falling to 15-28-2 overall compared with 24-19-2 through the first nine weeks a year ago. Click here to see overall SuperContest Standings for the entire field.
