Top Third of Team OddsShark Pulling Away Heading into Week 8 of SuperContest

The cream has started to rise to the top for Team OddsShark near the halfway point of the SuperContest at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. Of the 24 team members who are competing in the world-famous NFL handicapping contest, eight have 17 points or more, with leader Nick Kostos still on top through the first seven weeks with a 20-15 record. The overall leader remains RIPSAW with 27.5 points out of 35 (79 percent).

Kostos was one of 12 members who enjoyed winning weeks and one of 10 who went 3-2. The other two who each went a team-best 4-1 in Week 7 were Hank Lockwood and Matt Ufford. Lockwood’s rise to a tie for second place in the group standings with Anthony Riccobono has been very impressive since posting losing marks the first two weeks of the season, as he has gone 16-8-1 over the past five, including 7-2-1 in the last two.

Eight of the 12 members who went 3-2 or better in Week 7 currently reside among the top 10 places in the Team OddsShark standings. Besides Lockwood, another fellow Massachusetts native Jon Anik has really turned things around following a disappointing 8-12 start. The UFC commentator is 10-4-1 over the previous three weeks and now sits alone in fifth place, less than two points behind Kostos for the team lead.

The race to finish atop Team OddsShark could come down to a battle between Boston (Lockwood and Anik) and New York (Kostos and Riccobono) in the second half, although Toronto native Rob Pizzola might have something to say about that too after putting together his fifth winning week in the last six. Anything can happen, and last year’s group winner David Fucillo is certainly proof of that. “Fooch” ended up with 53 points last season to tie for 24th overall, and this year is last in the group with 12 points.

The Top 5 consensus picks also went 3-2 for their third winning week of the season – and second in three weeks – improving to 11-23-1 overall. Click here to see complete SuperContest standings going into Week 8 for all of the record 1,854 entrants.
