Super Contest Week 5 Computer Picks

Maybe we will stop calling it the Odds Shark Super Computer and just call it the Odds Shark Computer.

Because after a 6-7 ATS week overall and 1-4 ATS in our Superbook SuperContest picks, the computer is mired in the bottom third of all contestants.

The same guy who chose the five SuperContest picks also benched Jamaal Charles for his fantasy team, so maybe we just need a new guy making the picks.

The computer continued to back small favorites in Week 4 and they continued to get pulverized. The Patriots, Saints, Falcons and Steelers all lost outright, while the lone dog pick (Eagles +5.5) eked out a win in a 26-21 loss at San Francisco.

This week, the computer is back on the chalk train with four favorites and one big dog. At some point, the computer has to hit its stride, it has historically been a second-half machine, so let’s start the 5-0 weeks right now.

Steelers -6 at Jacksonville – computer says 27-13 Steelers
Seems like good line value if the computer says two TDs and the Westgate Superbook oddsmakers say six points. The Steelers yo-yo’ed the past two weeks, this is a spot to get healthy and get a win.

Chargers -6.5 at home to New York Jets – computer says 30-19 Chargers
Another spot where the computer gives the Vegas spread a significant cushion. The Chargers have looked great, the Jets have looked like the Jets and Geno Smith is on a short leash after dropping a few f-bombs to jeering fans.

Eagles -7 at home to the Rams – computer says 32-24 Eagles
The Eagles did nothing on offense in San Fran and the Rams will feel that wrath in Week 5. We think the computer is underestimating the Eagles here and we won’t be surprised to see them put up 50.

Buccaneers +10 at New Orleans – computer says 21-13 Saints
Tampa Bay followed up an embarrassing Week 3 loss with a shocking win at Pittsburgh. Do they revert to Week 3 form or hold the bar a little higher? Probably a combination of the two and the Saints haven’t been trustworthy with big spreads, so we will take the points with the Bucs.

Colts -3.5 at home to Baltimore – computer says 29-24 Indy
The Ravens are due for a regression here while the Colts look unstoppable on offense. The Ravens are 1-8 ATS in nine meetings with the Colts, make it nine as of Sunday.
