Westgate Super Contest Week 5 Results

The OddsShark Computer finally broke through with its best performance of the NFL season, going 4-1 on Week 5 picks in the SuperContest. It would have been a perfect 5-0 week for the computer if it wasn’t for those meddling St. Louis Rams, who rallied back from a 34-7 deficit to cover the 7-point spread in a 34-28 loss to the Eagles.

The computer’s other four SuperContest picks in Week 5 were the Pittsburgh Steelers (-6), San Diego Chargers (-6.5), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+10) and Indianapolis Colts (-3.5). The Steelers were fortunate to pick off Jacksonville Jaguars rookie quarterback Blake Bortles in the fourth quarter, returning the interception for a touchdown to cover the spread late, while the others were in good shape for most of their games. The Chargers routed the New York Jets 31-0, the Bucs fell 37-31 to the New Orleans Saints in overtime after leading 31-20 in the fourth quarter, and the Colts led the Baltimore Ravens throughout. Overall, the computer has won in all five weeks so far this season.

One OddsShark contestant who did go 5-0 in Week 5 was David Fucillo, who successfully picked the Cleveland Browns (+1.5), Denver Broncos (-7), Kansas City Chiefs (+6), New England Patriots (+1) and Seattle Seahawks (-7). Fucillo moved into a tie for second place in the OddsShark SuperContest Standings with a 14-11 mark overall, joining Jason McIntyre and Nick Kostos, who both went 3-2 last week.

Todd Fuhrman remains atop the OddsShark Standings despite going 2-3 for the second week in a row. Fuhrman got off to a 14-1 start and is three points off the lead in the SuperContest overall. The current leader of the SuperContest is Dustin Rampi, whose alias Alcatraz Holdings is an impressive 21-4 through the first five weeks. Rampi believes the static lines in the SuperContest give contestants an advantage if they know how to read the moves throughout the week. “There is for sure 100 percent strategy involved with this since the numbers don't change,” Rampi said. “I feel if you understand line movement and which way the game should go, it gives you a slight edge.”

Kelly Stewart went 2-3 to win her Week 5 SuperContest Smackdown with Matt Ufford, who went 1-4 following his 5-0 week and is now tied with her for fifth. Stay tuned to OddsShark.com for Stewart’s next Smackdown vs. Fucillo in a new video coming soon.
