Super Bowl Pick: Seahawks vs Steelers Rematch, per Prediction Machine

Super Bowl LI will be a rematch of Super Bowl XL, if one predictive score modelling site’s preseason analysis proves accurate this NFL season.

The most likely computer simulation from the Predictalator – the successful analysis engine produced at PredictionMachine.com which has already played the 2016 NFL season 50,000 times before it's actually played – is a rematch of the Seattle Seahawks versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. That result came up 55.5% of the time and by an average score of 27-24.

Why You Should Look At Underdogs In NFL Preseason

I sat watching a replay of the Miami Dolphins-New York Giants with OddsShark’s newest host, Alex Haider, on Monday morning and was quickly reminded how difficult it is to stomach NFL preseason football.

But Associate Finance Professor Kevin Krieger from the University of West Florida has me rethinking things.

Three Season Win Total Picks For The 2016 NFL Season

NFL season win totals have been out for a while now and it’s high time I jumped in with a few of my early likes.

Here are three of them with odds courtesy of Bovada :

New Orleans Saints UNDER 7 wins (-115):

Everybody knows the Saints offense can be pretty special with Drew Brees slinging balls around. It’s the defense that tells me this team might have major trouble earning eight wins this season.

NFL: 2016 Most Rushing Yards Prop Odds

Predicting who will lead the NFL in rushing has needed incredible luck or some sort of crystal ball in recent memory. In the past three seasons, only two running backs have finished in the top five more than once – those being Adrian Peterson and LeSean McCoy.

We watched several running backs put on shocking displays last season as Todd Gurley and Doug Martin finished second and third in rushing despite neither opening the season with better odds than +6600 to pace the league.

NFL: 2016 Most Passing Yards Prop Odds

If there has been one constant in the NFL over the past five seasons, it’s that Drew Brees will be throwing the ball a lot. Brees has led the league in passing yards in four of the past five years – while finishing second the lone year he didn’t pace the NFL.

With that in mind, Brees is a +500 favorite to accomplish the feat once again in 2016 according to Bet365.

NFL: 2016 Most Receiving Yards Props Odds

If you ask anybody who the best wide receiver in the NFL is today you are more than likely going to either hear Antonio Brown or Julio Jones. The two wideouts have more receiving yards over the past two seasons than any other player in the NFL.

Books are just as torn as to who is the best, with both Brown and Jones being listed as +350 co-faves to lead the league in receiving yards.

Seahawks Favored To Be The Highest Scoring Team In NFL

Aside from just being downright fun to watch, scoring a bunch of points goes a long way to a sustained playoff run in the NFL. Four of the past five teams that ended the regular season with the best offense in the NFL have made the playoffs – we excuse the 2014 New Orleans Saints because their defense always sucks.

This Week In Sports Betting

An analysis of the Silver State’s gaming revenue numbers show that sports betting is on track to become a $5 billion business in the state of Nevada this year for the first time ever.

Pretty cool.

It’s a clear sign that sports betting is more popular than ever and we can reasonably infer the numbers in Nevada are a reflection of what’s happening to sports betting everywhere.

Jared Goff Season Betting Props

Despite no official confirmation, Jared Goff will almost certainly be the Day 1 starter for the Los Angeles Rams this upcoming NFL season. The Rams mortgaged the future to attain Goff and spent their remaining draft picks on some offensive pieces with high upside.
