AFC North Odds: 2012 Preview

The Pittsburgh Steelers begin the season as the favorites to win the AFC North, but at least two big question marks hang over them heading into Week 1.

Both question marks for the Steelers are on offense, as they begin the season as a 5/4 favorite to capture the AFC North crown. Question No. 1 for Pittsburgh is what will happen with wide receiver Mike Wallace. The Steelers leading receiver is in the midst of a holdout and it doesn't look like either side is prepared to budge any time soon.

Cowboys at Raiders betting preview

New Raiders coach Dennis Allen, at least publicly, is saying his team is out to win tonight’s preseason opener against visiting Dallas

“We’re going to try to win,” Allen said in a Q&A on the team’s website. “That doesn’t mean we’re going to play our starters for four quarters; we’re trying to win the game. These games, they don’t count, but they matter. If you want to develop a winning attitude the best way is to go out and win games.”

N.J. Gov. on sports betting: 'We'll win'

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie didn't mince words when asked about the lawsuit filed by the NFL, NCAA, and other major sports leagues challenging his state's push to offer legalized sports betting.

"I think we’re going to win," Christie told reporters at an afternoon press conference. "I think we’re going to win. Because I don’t believe the federal government has the right to decide that only certain states can have sports gambling.

Why Bet NFL Preseason?

Casual NFL bettors everywhere ask the question every August: why bet on NFL preseason games when they don’t matter?

Well, son, in football everything matters. And in football betting, everything matters, especially when there are favorable lines and an edge to be gained.

NFL Preseason Betting Schedule

NFL preseason betting gets underway on Sunday with the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio between the Arizona Cardinals and the New Orleans Saints, with the Saints set as the favorites.

New Orleans is pegged as the 2.5-point favorite at 5Dimes for Sunday's contest, with the OVER/UNDER for the game listed at 34.5 points. The Hall of Fame Game was cancelled last year due to the NFL lockout; Dallas beat Cincinnati 16-7 back in 2010.

NFL preseason lines released

How will the New Orleans Saints react after an offseason marred by a bounty scandal that resulted in a season-long suspension to head coach Sean Payton and multiple player suspensions?

That’s one of the biggest questions facing NFL bettors this season, and it begins next Sunday in the Hall of Fame Game where the Saints are 3-point favorites over the Arizona Cardinals. The total is set at 35.5 points for that contest at the sportsbooks.

BetOnline posted lines for all of the Week 1 preseason games on Friday.

NFL Betting: Eight Weeks Until Kickoff

The NFL kicks off in eight weeks with a Wednesday night showdown that will set the tone for the NFC East division this season.

The defending-champion Giants are 3-point (-120) home favorites over the visiting Cowboys, a relatively small number considering that New York has covered the spread in four of its last five games against Dallas. As well, the defending Super Bowl champions are sitting at 9-2-1 ATS in their season opener over the past dozen years.

NFL Draft Odds: Luck, RG3 Off Board

Much of the drama is absent with Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III already slotted, but that doesn't mean NFL draft odds lack excitement or volume in 2012.

Will the Minnesota Vikings trade the third pick? Will Cleveland trade the fourth pick?

After Luck and RG3, how many QBs will be taken in the first round? The over-under is 3.5.

And in a draft where running backs are being dismissed, how many will go in Round 1? It's a lock that Trent Richardson will be picked but will any other RBs be taken? (The over under is 1.5).

Bill Parcells New Orleans Saints odds

It started out as a weird joke: Sean Payton was chatting with Bill Parcells about coaching the New Orleans Saints in 2012.

Slow news day or the fanciful musings of some bored blogger in the Bayou, probably.

Then it quickly became a serious topic of conversation to the point where sportsbooks made Tuna the favorite to become the next head coach while Payton sits out his suspension in the wake of Bounty-Gate.

“Even as the NFL stated that Payton is welcome to appeal his one-year suspension, the groundswell of betting support has been behind Parcells,” said Mike Pickett
