Auto Club 400 Betting Preview

Kyle Busch was expected to be the favorite to upend five-time defending Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson, but it's brother Kurt who has four Top-10 finishes coming into this weekend’s Auto Club 400 from the Speedway in Fontana, California.

Johnson is the defending champion and is at 7/2 odds at to collect the checkered flag in the 2011 version of the race. Johnson has a pair of Top-5 finishes this season and sits 20 points back of leader Kurt Busch (15/1) in the overall NASCAR driver standings.


Jeff Byrd 500 NASCAR Betting

Jimmie Johnson is the defending Sprint Cup champion and the early-season favorite to claim a sixth straight series title. He will also most likely be a favorite when the drivers of NASCAR take to the track for the Jeff Byrd 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on March 20.

Johnson sits in 12th place in the standings after three races, and after finishing 16th in the Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas he is anxious to start moving up the NASCAR ladder.

Denny Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson had Daytona 500 finishes they would like to forget, but both drivers are sitting at just +500 for the Subway Fresh Fit 500 on Sunday.

Hamlin and Johnson still draw high praise, and with just one race completed in the Sprint Cup season they should draw most of the attention on the NASCAR betting lines based on their one-two finish in the Chase in 2010. Kevin Harvick has been pegged as the sportsbook favorite at 8/1 odds to take the checkered flag in the 2011 Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. picked up the pole last Sunday and then relinquished it with a crash in practice on Wednesday. Earnhardt Jr. enters the race at 9/1 odds like Kyle Busch, as they sit behind Harvick at Bodog.

Jimmie Johnson looks for his third win in a row this weekend when the Sprint Cup Series rolls into Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Kobalt Tools 500. Johnson, the reigning four-time Sprint Cup champion has picked up right where he left off last season.

Last week Johnson took the checkered flag at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the Shelby American. Throw in Johnson’s win a week earlier in the Auto Club 500 and Johnson’s opened the season with back-to-back wins.
