Major Odds for Spieth, McIlroy, Johnson & Day

The current state of the PGA Tour has been deemed the golden age of golf by many, and it’s hard to argue with that statement with the influx of young talent in recent seasons.

The last few years has seen three men rise to the top of the ranks, as Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and Jason Day have jumped towards the top of the World Golf Rankings. But after the 2016 U.S. Open, Dustin Johnson deserves to be in that category as well.

WGC-Bridgestone Invitational Odds

The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational isn’t a major tournament, but the field for the 2016 edition features some impressive names.

Forty of the top 50 golfers in the world will be participating in the event at Firestone Country Club this weekend in Akron, Ohio. The small roster features only 59 qualifiers, and world No. 1 Jason Day is a +500 favorite to go all the way at Bovada.

Betting on The British Open

Following behind the Masters and U.S. Open and preceding the PGA, The British Open – or “The Open” as some may call it, certainly has a legacy for inspiring champions. This year marks the 145th British Open, hosted by the Royal Troon in the West of Scotland over a span of four days beginning on July 14th, 2016. This will be the ninth time that The Open has been held at the challenging par 71 course and will test the skills of this group of talented golfers.

Quicken Loans National Odds

The PGA Tour shifts to Bethesda, Maryland this weekend for the Quicken Loans National at Congressional Country Club. While recovering from injury, Tiger Woods will act as the tournament host this year, with all proceeds being donated to the Tiger Woods Foundation.

Less than a week after the U.S. Open, the event features a fairly weak field. Only two players in the top 20 of the World Golf Ranking will be participating (Rickie Fowler and Patrick Reed).

Dustin Johnson Wins Wild U.S. Open

Dustin Johnson PGA

It wasn’t easy, but Dustin Johnson finally got his major moment by capturing the 116th U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club on Sunday.

Johnson, who entered the day three strokes back of Shane Lowry, persevered through some questionable decision-making by the United States Golf Association to finish the tournament atop the leaderboard at 5 under par. Lowry, Jim Furyk and Scott Piercy shared second place at 1 under, while Sergio Garcia and Branden Grace were right behind them at even par.

U.S. Open Odds: Lowry Leads the Pack

Prior to tee-off on the final day of the 116th U.S. Open, some very unfamiliar faces top the leaderboard.

Due to darkness, a lot of golfers didn't get a chance to complete their third rounds on Saturday. As a result, they'll finish those up this morning before starting the final round.

Shane Lowry leads the pack at 6-under entering Sunday, with Dustin Johnson (3-under), Lee Westwood (2-under), Daniel Summerhays (2-under), Branden Grace (1-under) and Andrew Landry (1-under) right behind him.

U.S. Open: Sleeper Picks

Justin Thomas PGA

Betting on golf can be an exhilarating endeavor, but it can also be an extremely frustrating one. Don’t believe me? Go ahead and ask anyone who backed Dustin Johnson in the 2015 U.S. Open how they felt after he imploded on the 18th green.

That’s why it’s important to pick your spots when it comes to betting long shot value. With this year’s edition of the U.S. Open rapidly coming up, I’ve set my sights on three specific golfers who could create big payouts if they can take home the hardware.

Thunderstorms Could Impact U.S. Open

Rory McIlroy PGA

Players at the U.S. Open will be forced to contend with the frightening Oakmont Country Club, but it looks like Mother Nature is going to play a hand in the tournament as well.

According to AccuWeather, the worst conditions of the event will unfold on Thursday. The forecast is calling for a line of severe thunderstorms to roll through during the afternoon hours of the first round. The opening group tees off at 6:45 a.m. ET.

Jordan Spieth PGA

If you’re a golf fan like I am, chances are you’re beyond excited for the 116th U.S. Open. Wagering on props in major tournaments is a lot of fun, but it can be overwhelming with so many selections to choose from. All sharp sports bettors know you can find some incredible value in props betting if you choose correctly.
