American Idol Odds: Finals Underway

Thirteen contestants remain in the running to follow in the footsteps of Candice Glover as the American Idol champion for 2014, and it's Alex Preston and Sam Woolf that enter the week as the co-favorites on the American Idol odds at the sportsbooks.

Preston and Woolf both sit at 4/1 on the American Idol odds at Bovada heading into this week's episodes of the show, with M.K. Nobilette and Majesty York next at 7/1 on those American Idol betting lines at the sportsbook.

Lorde tops 2014 Grammy odds at books

New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde and her hit Royals are sitting atop the Grammy Awards odds in the Song of the Year category in early wagering for the January 26 telecast at the online sportsbooks.

Royals is the +125 favorite at Bovada to win Song of the Year on the Grammy odds, with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Same Love at +200, Pink's Just Give Me A Reason and Bruno Mars' Locked Out Of Heaven at +500, and Katy Perry's Roar at +1200.

Golden Globes betting lines released

The sportsbooks have released their odds to win the top prizes at the 71st Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, and 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle are holding down the top spots on the odds to win Best Picture Drama and Best Picture Musical or Comedy.

12 Years a Slave is the -400 favorite at Bovada on the odds to win the Golden Globe for Best Picture Drama this weekend, with Gravity at +275, Captain Phillips at +1800, Philomena at +5000, and Rush at +8000.

Toronto Mayor Ford Week 14 NFL Picks

His critics say he isn’t much of a civic leader, but maybe Toronto Mayor Rob Ford will have a future as an NFL handicapper when he is inevitably dumped from city council.

The controversial politician, who has admitted to smoking crack and been accused of crass and lewd behaviour, gave his opinion on Week 14 NFL games to a Washington radio station.

Emmy Odds: Breaking Bad leads list

Breaking Bad leads the way on the Emmy odds at the sportsbooks with the 65th annual ceremony taking place on Sunday night this week.

Breaking Bad is the 2/5 favorite on the Emmy betting lines at Bovada to win Best Drama Series on Sunday, putting it ahead of last year's winner, Homeland (7/2). Netflix's House of Cards is next at 6/1 on those odds, with Game of Thrones at 15/2, Downton Abbey at 20/1, and Mad Men at 40/1.

Twitter's planned IPO (initial public offering) has created tons of buzz and, not surprisingly, plenty of Twitter action.

But which exchange will the mega-microblogging site get listed on? Will Twitter go public before or after December 1?

Miss Oklahoma is the 13/2 favorite at Bovada to claim the crown this weekend, with Miss Florida, Miss Georgia, and Miss Mississippi all at 12/1 odds, and Miss Kansas joining Miss Minnesota, Miss New Hampshire, and Miss South Carolina at 15/1 odds.

Betting the ESPYs

Johnny Manziel, the first freshman ever to win the Heisman Trophy, appears to be a lock to win the ESPY for Best Male College Athlete over a field of relative unknowns. However, the most value in betting the ESPYs might be found in the Best MLB Player category.

American Idol Betting Odds Preview

Candice Glover is favored over Kree Harrison at the sportsbooks to pay out on the American Idol betting odds this month as Season 12 of the singing competition comes to a close.

 

Glover is the 5/9 favorite at Bovada over the 7/5 Harrison with the finals of the show on tap for this week. A female hasn't won American Idol since Jordin Sparks back in Season 6.
