AFC North Futures: 3-Team Race in 2016

Ben Roethlisberger Pittsburgh Steelers NFL

There is no question that the AFC North is a three-team race with the Cleveland Browns undoubtedly the odd-man out. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals are separated by the thinnest of margins in early futures markets, while the Baltimore Ravens are right there behind them with all three set to duke it out in that typical AFC North fashion that we’ve come to know and love.

AFC East Futures: Same Old Same Old

Until something drastic changes, the AFC East will go through New England. The Patriots have won the division 12 of the past 13 seasons with their lone unsuccessful campaign coming when Tom Brady missed the entire 2008 season.

Jared Goff Season Betting Props

Despite no official confirmation, Jared Goff will almost certainly be the Day 1 starter for the Los Angeles Rams this upcoming NFL season. The Rams mortgaged the future to attain Goff and spent their remaining draft picks on some offensive pieces with high upside.

AFC South Futures: Division is Wide Open

A team often goes as far as their quarterback can carry them, and in the case of the 2015 Indianapolis Colts, it wasn’t very far. Star signal caller Andrew Luck had his season derailed by a lacerated kidney, but with the QB expected to be back to full health entering the season, oddsmakers have the Colts as favorites to win the AFC South.

With +125 odds to win the division at online shop BetOnline, the Colts’ second biggest issue last season was the 379 yards per game they allowed. They haven’t exactly addressed the issue during the offseason, so expect to see them in plenty of shootouts with Luck leading the way in 2016.

The team who won the division last season, the Houston Texans, find themselves with the second best odds in the division at +200. The Texans were the only team in the AFC South with a positive point differential last season and will feature a new look offense led by former Broncos QB Brock Osweiler. The backfield said bye-bye to former fantasy football darling Arian Foster with the addition of Lamar Miller, and they added two receivers in the draft.

Speaking of the draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars received great grades from many experts for their draft. They appear to be a team on the rise being led by Blake Bortles and the two-headed receiving monster of Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns and should see an improvement on defense with the additions of Jalen Ramsey and Myles Jack. With +300 odds to win the division, this is a team that could take a major leap in 2016.

Last and certainly least is the Tennessee Titans who improved from one win in 2014 to three wins in 2015. Their odds to win the division are +1000 and they won’t be on anyone’s list as a sexy team entering 2016. They’ll have a new look backfield with the additions of DeMarco Murray and college standout Derrick Henry, and with the development of QB Marcus Mariota, they could be a fun team to watch in 2016.

AFC West Futures: Expect Tight Race

The AFC West could be wide open this season, despite the defending Super Bowl champions calling it their home. The Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs have opened at virtually the same odds to win the AFC West with the Oakland Raiders close behind.

The Broncos open as the slight +165 favorite, but will need to somehow fill the void left at quarterback with Peyton Manning retiring and Brock Osweiller bolting to Houston. Whoever that quarterback is should have a stellar defense to carry the team, much like last season.

NFC East Futures: DAL Open As Faves

The NFC East has always been a division of parity and unpredictability. No team has won the NFC East in consecutive seasons since 2004 and each team has ended the season as the best in the division at least twice in that span.

Ezekiel Elliott Season Betting Props

Ezekiel Elliott could not have asked to be drafted into a better situation when the Dallas Cowboys called his name in the NFL Draft. The Cowboys offensive line has been amazing at leading the way for runners with the team rushing for a combined 4244 yards the past two seasons.

NFL Draft: Who Will Be First Overall Pick?

The Los Angeles Rams pushed all their chips into the pot and made a huge trade to obtain the top overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. The Rams sent two firsts, two seconds and two third round picks to the Tennessee Titans to go from No.15 to No.1 in the draft to select their potential franchise quarterback.

The only question remaining is which quarterback will be roaming the sidelines for the Rams next season. There is no doubt the decision is between Jared Goff of Cal and Carson Wentz of North Dakota State.
