Early 2014 College Football Betting Lines

Betting on the NFL Draft barely whet the whistle for serious football bettors, but one sportsbook has provided some food for thought with early college football lines.

The season kicks off August 27 with a matchup between Georgia State and tiny Abilene Christian. The first big game takes places the following day when Texas A&M, which just sent three first rounders to the NFL draft, visits South Carolina, which just sent the No. 1 pick to the NFL.

Florida State opens as the 2015 favorites

For the first time in four years, Alabama does not open as the early favorite to win the next college football national championship.

That honor, predictably, goes to Florida State, who rallied late to defeat Auburn on Monday night in the 2014 edition of the BCS title game.

FSU was 11/2 at Bovada, slightly ahead of perennial powerhouse Alabama at 13/2. Auburn was the sixth betting choice and they may fall if talented youngsters like Tre Mason leave for the NFL.

FSU wins, sportsbooks recoup millions

Florida State fans had a million reasons to smile after the Seminoles rallied to beat Auburn in the final minute of the BCS Championship Game.

Sportsbook operators had about 10 times as many reasons to smile.

“From what we have heard around the online world today, it sounds like a $10 million swing on that one pass from Jameis Winston to Kelvin Benjamin with 13 seconds left,” said OddsShark.com NFL analyst Jack Randall.

BCS Championship Odds: FSU vs Auburn

The only undefeated school in the country, Florida State will be looking to stay that way on Monday as they face Auburn in the BCS National Championship Game.

And if recent history holds true, the Seminoles will cover this big spread, which opened at nine points in early December.

Florida State went to 13-0 on the season by running roughshod over Duke in a 45-7 victory in the ACC Championship Game, covering a big 30-point spread at the sportsbooks in the process.

Florida State vs Auburn Prop Betting

It's the Super Bowl of college football betting, so it's fitting that the BCS Championship Game has dozens of prop bets to go along with the point spread and total, just like the Super Bowl.

So when the Florida State Seminoles clash with the Auburn Tigers, fans can bet on far more than just the score.

Books dread Auburn in BCS Title Game

You can add the oddsmakers at Bovada to the list of SEC haters and Florida State fans who are cheering against Auburn in Monday’s BCS national championship game.

The book, like some others monitored by OddsShark.com, have too much action on the SEC champion Tigers. If Auburn covers the current 8-point spread – or worse yet, if they win outright – it can be a disastrous end to the college football season for Bovada.
