Crimson Tide chalk against Mountaineers

After a disastrous (for them) season last year, the Alabama Crimson Tide will open their 2014 campaign as huge favorites on the betting lines on Saturday afternoon as they take on the West Virginia Mountaineers at the Georgia Dome.

Alabama did not win the national championship last season, and that's not good enough for Crimson Tide supporters - they were 11-2 SU and 7-6 ATS on the year. West Virginia would've killed for those records last season, as the Mountaineers won just four of their 12 games SU while posting just three ATS victories.

College Football Week 1 Line Movement

With plenty of mismatches on the board for Week 1 of the college football betting slate many of the matchups don't even have lines posted yet late in the week. That's limited the number of college football line moves at the sportsbooks so far this week.

Texas A&M faces South Carolina Preview

The Texas A&M Aggies will start life without Johnny Manziel at quarterback on Thursday night as they take on another ranked team, the South Carolina Gamecocks, as road betting underdogs on the college football odds board at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Texas A&M enters the season at No. 21 in the AP Poll, while favored South Carolina sits at No. 9 in those rankings. On the betting trends, the Aggies are just 1-4 ATS in their last five games, but 20-5 SU in their last 25 contests. The Gamecocks have paid off at 5-1 ATS in their last six games.

College Football Week 1 Potential Upsets

The Auburn Tigers, who last covered the spread in a season opener five years ago, start this season as 20-point favorites at Bovada over the Arkansas Razorbacks.

A 10/1 bet in national championship futures wagering at Bovada, Auburn has many new faces on defense, and has to deal with the distraction of both quarterback Nick Marshall and cornerback Jonathon Mincy not starting the game for disciplinary reasons on Saturday against Arkansas.

Odds For College Football Playoff Final 4

Florida State is the defending champion, winners of 14 straight, and facing an easy 2014 schedule as kings of the ACC.

Small wonder the Seminoles are the best bet this week as Bovada posted odds to make the College Football Playoff final four.

At -250 on the college football prop moneyline, FSU is one of only two teams favored by sportsbooks to make the inaugural Football Final Four. Alabama at -120 is the other.

College Football Betting Trends: Week 1

Boise State has been a double-digit underdog just once in 13 years, but the Broncos open the season in that role.

Visiting Ole Miss in Week 1 of the college football betting season, the Broncos get double digits for the first time since 2008, when they upset Oregon on the road.

They are not the only team that is accustomed to favorite status that oddsmakers have turned into underdogs for this week.
