Fresno State got doubled up 28-14 by Boise State in the Mountain West title game, but it will try and end the season on a high note on Christmas Eve against Rice in this year's Hawaii Bowl. That could be easier said than done, though, given that the Bulldogs are 0-5 both SU and ATS in their last five trips to a bowl.
The Owls finished strong down the stretch in Conference USA with a 7-2 mark ATS in their last nine games, but the concern here is the 76 points they gave up in a lopsided loss to Louisiana Tech in their season finale. The underdogs have covered in six of the last nine Hawaii Bowl games and the total has stayed UNDER in the last three games.
The Fresno State Bulldogs will look to cover ATS vs their hosts on Wednesday, as they are 7-6 ATS versus the spread this season, while the Rice Owls are 8-4 ATS. Fresno State is 7-6 against the over under total, while Rice is 7-5 versus the number.
