Vanderbilt Betting Odds Preview

James Franklin got something cooking in Nashville, taking this program to places it hadn't been in a long time. But he wasn't going to stay here forever, and now he's off to coach in Joe Pa's shadow up at Penn State. So now it's up to first-time head coach Derek Mason to keep this good thing going. Unfortunately, there might be a bump in the road coming up.

Utah Betting Odds Preview

Like Colorado, Utah has struggled since moving into the Pac-12. Over their last three seasons in the Mountain West the Utes went 33-6 overall, 21-3 in conference play; since joining the Pac-12 Utah has gone 8-5, 5-7 and 5-7, missing a bowl the last two seasons. Wasn't it more fun being the big fish in the little pond? But what's done is done.

Washington State Betting Odds Preview

Head coach Mike Leach's attempt to kickstart this program might be working. From 2004-2011 the Cougars struggled through eight-straight non-winning and non-bowl seasons, hitting bottom by winning just five games total from '08-'10.

Washington State then went 3-9 in Leach's first season here in 2012, and last year got to 6-7 and a bowl. The next step is to pull a couple of upsets and contend in the Pac-12 North. Leach created a lot of excitement at Texas Tech not too long ago, and anticipation is building in Pullman.

Purdue Betting Odds Preview

The Boilermakers are coming off basically the worst season in program history. In its first year under new head coach Darrell Hazell Purdue won one game, none against FBS competition. The Boilers were outscored by three touchdowns per game, got shut out twice, were held to 10 points or less three other times, averaged just 67 yards per game on the ground and just generally stunk.

Penn State Betting Odds Preview

The light is appearing at the end of the tunnel for the Nittany Lions, as next year they'll once again be eligible to compete for the Big Ten title and the postseason. Head coach Bill O'Brien did a great job the last two years holding this program together, winning 15 games in the process.

Northwestern Betting Odds Preview

After making five straight bowl appearances the Wildcats suffered through one of those lost seasons last year in which everything seems to go wrong. They started off well enough, but when the Big Ten season rolled around the 'Cats couldn't catch a break and lost seven games in a row.

But that's all in the past; this year Northwestern returns a slew of starters on both sides of the ball, and now only hopes for a little better luck. And the goal for the Wildcats isn't just to return to a bowl; they've got bigger things in mind, like a division championship.

Minnesota Betting Odds Preview

The Gophers have won three, six and eight games in their three seasons under head coach Jerry Kill, so progress is being made in Minneapolis. And last year the Gophers even made some noise within the Big Ten, splitting their eight conference games, beating a ranked team for the first time with Kill and giving a couple of the big boys hard times.

But now the word is out; Minnesota is a program that can't be taken for granted anymore. However, to take the next step the Gophers will have to start beating some of those big boys, instead of just giving them good games.

Kentucky Betting Odds Preview

The Wildcats performed about as expected in their first season under new head coach Mike Stoops last year; they won two games, exactly as many as they did in their last season under Joker Phillips. And they matched 2012's SEC win total – zero.
