Virginia Tech is Demolishing The AAC

Virginia Tech NCAA Football

If history serves, Virginia Tech was more than happy to see they are facing Tulsa in the Independence Bowl this year. The Hokies are 25-5 SU in their last 30 games against AAC opponents.

This will be Frank Beamer’s last game on the sidelines for Virginia Tech after more than two decades coaching the Hokies. So it is needless to say Virginia Tech will be plenty motivated. Isaiah Ford has been the one bright spot offensively for the Hokies as he could become the first receiver in school history with 1,000 yards in a season in this game.

The other sideline is a different story, as first year head coach Philip Montgomery made Tulsa one of the top offenses in the nation. The Golden Hurricanes stood toe-to-toe with some of the best teams in the nation this season and despite not having a landmark win, they are a real threat to score every time the offense takes the field.

San Diego State Enter Bowl Streaking

The San Diego State Aztecs are one of the hottest teams in the nation entering the Hawaii Bowl, as they have gone 9-0 SU and 8-1 ATS in their last nine games to close out the season. The Aztecs will take to tropical Hawaii on December 24 to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats.

San Diego State isn’t the flashiest team in the nation, but their defense is one of the best. The Aztecs have only allowed 17.2 points per game, which includes holding their opponents to single-digits on four occasions, while only allowing 288 yards of offense.

Cincinnati came into the season with some high expectations, but their passing attack was on point. The Bearcats were fourth in the nation in passing yards per game despite the fact that no single receiver caught for 1,000 yards.

Western Michigan A Boon For ATS Bettors

Braverman Western Michigan Football

Western Michigan is not the most publicized team around, but bettors have been in love with the Broncos as they are 17-7 ATS in their last 24 games. Western Michigan will try to extend that streak when they clash with the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in the Bahamas Bowl on December 24.

Western Michigan’s offense has been high-octane this season with the team averaging 480.6 offensive yards and 35 points per game. The Broncos boast one of the best receiver tandems in the nation with Daniel Braverman and Corey David both accounting for more than 1200 yards and 11 touchdowns through the air.

Middle Tennessee closed their season out going 4-0 SU and ATS while holding opponents to 13.8 points per game. Don’t let the defense fool you though, the Blue Raiders bread-and-butter is their offense that has averaged 33 points and 458.7 yards per game.

Boise State Struggling In December

Boise State has faltered to close out the season successfully for bettors as the Broncos are just 1-4 ATS in their past five games in December. Boise State and Northern Illinois will meet in the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego on December 23.

After opening the season strong, Boise State faltered down the stretch with a 3-3 record in their final six games. The Broncos have been getting it done in all facets of the game, but their 13th ranked run defense will need to show up in this game.

NIU is averaging over 200 yards rushing this season, but lead runner Joel Bouagnon struggled in the final two games of the season with a combined 94 yards and no touchdowns.

GoDaddy Bowl Odds Preview

Georgia Southern NCAA Football

Georgia Southern ended their regular season with an embarrassing loss, but that could bode well for them come the GoDaddy Bowl as the Eagles are 8-1 ATS in their past nine games following a loss. Georgia Southern and Bowling Green will meet in Mobile with the GoDaddy Bowl on the line on December 23rd.

The Eagles option attack has made them the number one rushing team in the nation with the team averaging 355.6 yards per game. Georgia Southern has four players that have accounted for more than 600 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns, but Matt Breida is the workhorse. The junior leads the team in rushing yards and touchdowns while averaging 8.2 yards per carry.

Bowling Green can keep up offensively, but they do it through the air, with the Falcons third in the nation in passing yards per game. Senior quarterback Matt Johnson has put up ridiculous numbers with his 4700 passing yards leading the nation and his 43 touchdowns second.

Temple Can’t Seem To Beat Toledo

Temple NCAA Football

The Temple Owls come into the Boca Raton Bowl as the favorite, but they’ve struggled against the Toldeo Rockets for some time. Temple is 1-5 SU and ATS in their past six games against Toledo, but will look to end their season on a high note on December 22nd.

Temple could have put themselves in prime position for a New Year’s Six Bowl game, but an AAC Championship loss to Houston has them playing here instead. If the Owls want to win a bowl game, they’ll need quarterback P.J. Walker to perform better than he did against Houston, as the signal caller threw a lot of questionable passes over the middle in that game.

Toldeo will be playing this game without former head coach Matt Campbell who left the team for Iowa State and will not be on the sidelines. The Rockets will turn to offensive coordinator Jason Candle to make the calls in what will likely be an interview for the permanent position.
