Magic Visit Spurs to Start New Month

Victor Oladipo Tony Parker Orlando Magic San Antonio Spurs NBA

The Orlando Magic, as well as dedicated Magic backers, will be eager to move on to a new month as the team produced woeful 2-12 SU and 3-11 ATS records in January. Their first challenge in February is not an ideal one, however, as they visit the San Antonio Spurs Monday evening.

Shark Bites
  • OVER is 4-1 in the Spurs’ last five games.
  • The Magic are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games versus the Spurs.
  • The Magic are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games.

The Magic’s blistering start to the season seems like a distant memory after their horrific month. Orlando, currently 16-point road dogs at Bovada for Monday’s meeting, was the hottest wager in the league to start the campaign, going 7-0 ATS (3-4 SU), and head into Monday’s contest with a 25-21 ATS mark season to date. They did conclude the month on a high note, defeating the Boston Celtics 119-114 and covering as 4-point dogs Sunday.

The Spurs head into Monday’s contest somewhat chilly SU and ATS. They are coming off a 117-103 loss at the Cleveland Cavaliers in their last effort and have lost two of their last three games SU and three of their last four ATS. Granted, the two SU losses came against the Cavs and Golden State Warriors, but it’s the first time all season that the Spurs have lost two games in a three game stretch.

Cavs are an Unreliable Bet vs Pacers

The Cleveland Cavaliers are turning the corner under newly appointed head coach Tyronne Lue, however tonight they’ll be tasked with covering the spread against a team that’s traditionally given them fits: the Indiana Pacers. Cleveland is 0-4 ATS in its last four against Indy.

Shark Bites
  • The Pacers are 0-5 SU and 1-4 ATS in their last five games after losing the previous game in a matchup.
  • The Cavaliers are 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games after winning as an underdog.
  • The Cavaliers are 5-17 SU in their last 22 games against the Pacers.

On January 23, Lue told reporters his team was out of shape after a sloppy loss to the Chicago Bulls in his debut. Since then, the wine and gold have rattled off four straight while averaging 115 points per game, with a 117-103 victory over Western Conference heavyweight San Antonio solidifying the belief that the Cavs look considerably better in the wake of the coaching change. The Cavs have covered in three straight heading into the tilt.

The Pacers have earned back-to-back wins after dropping six of their previous seven but haven’t done anything to inspire any confidence in their backers. Indiana has been one of the most inconsistent teams in the Association this season despite Paul George playing some of the best basketball of his life.

When the Cavs and Pacers collide, UNDER bettors are laughing all the way to the bank. The UNDER has paid out in 12 of the last 15 clashes between the Eastern Conference foes.

Warriors Escape Philly, Now Visit Knicks

Stephen Curry Warriors Kristaps Porzingis Knicks NBA

The Golden State Warriors escaped what would have been a humiliating loss when Harrison Barnes nailed a corner three-pointer to prevail 108-105 at the Philadelphia 76ers Saturday afternoon. Now the Warriors head to New York to visit a Knicks team that snapped a four-game losing streak with an 18-point victory over the Phoenix Suns in their last game.

Shark Bites
  • The Warriors are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 games after an ATS defeat.
  • The Warriors are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games versus the Atlantic Division.
  • UNDER is 4-1 in the Knicks’ last five games.

The Warriors, currently 10-point road faves at online shop BetOnline, were able to extend their winning streak to six games (4-2 ATS) thanks to Barnes’ heroics, but didn’t come close to the 17-point spread they were favored by when lines closed. Golden State visits Madison Square Garden for the second of its three-game road trip and has proven profitable away from home, going 15-8-2 ATS on the road this season.

At 29-20 ATS (23-26 SU) on the season, the Knicks have been one of the best teams at the sportsbook to date. The aforementioned four-game skid has dropped them to ninth in the Eastern Conference, but had no issues in their blowout win over the hapless Suns Friday.

The Knicks have covered the number in three straight games heading into this one, but look for Steph Curry and Co. to come out and try to make a statement at The World’s Most Famous Arena after their near stumble at Philly.

No Blake Griffin, No Problem for Clippers

Jimmy Butler Chris Paul Bulls Clippers NBA

The Chicago Bulls continue their west coast road swing with a date at the Los Angeles Clippers, who continue to record wins without star forward Blake Griffin in the lineup.

Shark Bites
  • The Bulls are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
  • The Clippers are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 games versus the Eastern Conference.
  • OVER is 8-1 in the Bulls’ last nine games on the road.

The Bulls, presently 5.5-point road pups, play their second of a seven-game road trip Sunday afternoon and began the swing with a 114-91 win at the Los Angeles Lakers Thursday night. The victory was their fourth in their previous five road games overall (3-2 ATS) and at 9-11 ATS to date, they are a better wager away from home than on their own floor (9-16 ATS).

The Clippers, who began the season with that poor (by their standards) 6-7 SU record, have really started to catch fire of late. They head into Sunday’s contest fourth in the Western Conference standings with a 31-16 SU record (22-23-2 ATS) and have won 14 of 17 games without Griffin, who remains sidelined four-to-six weeks with that fractured right hand.

The Clips have covered the spread in 12 of those games sans Blake, but failed to cash as 14-point favorites against the Lakers in their last games. Bettors should take note, however, as L.A. has gone 6-0 ATS in its last six games following an ATS loss in its previous contest.

Raptors Bid to Keep Winning Streak Alive

Kyle Lowry Toronto Raptors NBA

The Toronto Raptors are the hottest team in the standings as well as one of the hottest at the betting window and will look to extend their franchise record winning streak to 11 games when they host the Detroit Pistons at the Air Canada Centre Saturday evening.

Shark Bites
  • The road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.
  • OVER is 5-0 in the previous five meetings.
  • The Raptors are 1-5 ATS in their last six games versus the Central Division.

The Raptors, currently an 8-point home favorite at online shop Bovada, have gone 8-2 ATS during their sizzling 10-game SU winning streak. Season to date, the Raptors have put together a 26-19-1 ATS mark; still a few games behind the Spurs’ blistering 31-15 ATS pace, but one of the top teams at the betting window nonetheless.

The Raps’ last six wins have come on their home floor, where they have won five of those six by double digits and have an average margin of victory of 13.8 points during their recent stay at home.

In come the Pistons, who currently sit seventh in the Eastern Conference, but have been just average since thumping the Golden State Warriors 113-95 back on January 16. In their seven games since, the Pistons have gone 3-4 both SU and ATS and lost 114-106 to the Cleveland Cavaliers their last time out Friday evening.

Saturday’s meeting will be the first between the Eastern Conference foes this season. They split four games last season with Detroit getting the edge at the betting window with a 3-1 ATS mark.
