The unbeaten Alabama Crimson Tide continue their quest for a second consecutive national championship as massive favorites against the Washington Huskies in the 2016 Peach Bowl, which is the first of two College Football Playoff semifinal matchups. Alabama opened as 14-point chalk and brings a 25-game winning streak into the Peach Bowl while going 16-9 against the spread during that stretch.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are back in the Fiesta Bowl, only this time it's against the Clemson Tigers in the College Football Playoff semifinal. The teams have had similar seasons – several statement wins, but many close calls. They are meeting in a bowl for the second time in four years, with Clemson having won a 40-35 shootout in the 2014 Orange Bowl.

The USC Trojans recorded a 38-24 victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions when they last met in the 2009 Rose Bowl. Both these squads were bowl game losers last season. USC fell 23-21 to Wisconsin in the Holiday Bowl, while Penn State dropped a 24-17 decision to Georgia in the TaxSlayer Bowl.

In the sixth year of the program's existence, UT-San Antonio's Roadrunners are bowling for the first time, matched up against the New Mexico Lobos for the 11th edition of the New Mexico Bowl. UTSA comes in having lost two of its last three games, while New Mexico has won six of its last seven.

In one of the more interesting early matchups of this bowl season, Houston meets San Diego State in the 25th edition of the Las Vegas Bowl.
