Aldo vs. McGregor: UFC 187 Odds Open

Conor McGregor thinks he should be the favorite when he faces Jose Aldo for the UFC Featherweight title in May.

Oddsmakers don’t agree with the brash Irishman’s claims of being the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and have installed him as an underdog for the match, which has not even been officially confirmed.

Online sportsbook Sportsbook opened the defending champion Aldo as a -175 favorite for the fight, expected to be at UFC 187 in Las Vegas. McGregor, who has reeled off five straight impressive UFC wins, is at +145, meaning a $100 wager on ‘the Notorious One’ yields a profit of $145.

McGregor destroyed tough Dennis Siver on the weekend in Boston, earning a title shot against the only Featherweight champion the UFC has ever had. While McGregor has looked dynamic, he has not faced the quality of competition that Aldo has faced in defeating all challengers over the course of nearly a decade.

Aldo has laughed at McGregor and called him a ‘court jester’ in recent months and was amused when McGregor confronted him in the stands after his win over Siver.

The UFC sees more great betting action this month with Alexander Gustafsson facing Anthony Johnson with a shot at the Light Heavyweight title on the line Saturday.

The following weekend, Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz return from long layoffs in the main event of UFC 184. Check out the MMA betting lines here at OddsShark for lines on the major events.
