Bellator 138: Slice vs Shamrock Odds

Kimbo Slice will make his return to MMA when he squares off against Ken Shamrock as a solid -275 betting favorite (bet $275 to win $100) at Sportsbook at Bellator 138 on Friday at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

Slice (4-2), who rose to fame as a street fighter before becoming a professional, has not been involved in an MMA fight since he was knocked out by Matt Mitrione at UFC 113 in Montreal a little more than five years ago. He switched gears with his fighting career after losing to Mitrione and went 7-0 as a pro boxer, scoring six knockouts among the wins, including four in the first round.

The 51-year-old Shamrock (28-15-2) is 10 years older than his opponent and has actually been involved in an MMA fight more recently than Slice. Shamrock, who is listed as a +215 underdog (bet $100 to win $215) at Sportsbook for Bellator 138, suffered a hamstring injury during a TKO loss to Mike Bourke in a King of the Cage event back on Nov. 25, 2010. He has dropped seven of his past nine fights, with five of the losses taking place prior to 2009.

Nearly 20 years ago, Shamrock won the UFC Superfight Championship with a second-round guillotine choke submission win over Dan Severn in the organization’s sixth event ever in 2005. He lost it a year later to Severn via split decision at UFC 8 and is 2-2 in his past four but tested positive for steroids following a first-round submission victory against Ross Clifton on Feb. 13, 2009.
