Bellator 44 Fight Card Preview
The Bellator Lightweight tournament winner will be crowned this weekend, and either Patricky Freire or Michael Chandler will pocket six-figures and a shot at Eddie Alvarez’s title. Both fighters bring excellent skills to this bout and oddsmakers at Bovada have the same -115 line on them.
MMA fans will also get a treat on the Bellator 44 fight card when Middleweight champion Hector Lombard will stay active in a non-title fight against X-1 veteran Falaniko Vitale. Lombard looks like he’s one off the best Middleweights in the world right now and is easily worth the price of -510 at 5Dimes.
Vitale has seen better days in his career and has currently lost six of his last 17 fights. The payout on a Vitale upset is +405, but it’s not recommended by anyone here. We fully expect Lombard to be too much for Vitale to handle, and he should win by submission in the second or third round.
The fight that fans are waiting for on this card is the Bellator Lightweight tournament matchup between Michael Chandler and Patricky Freire. Chandler is an undefeated wrestler with endless cardio, while Freire has deadly power in both hands.
It’s not often that a bargain line on an undefeated wrestler comes along, but that’s what 5Dimes is offering on Chandler at -105. Wagering on wrestling skills continues to be the safest place to put MMA bets, and we think that will apply to Chandler in this one. Look for a Chandler unanimous decision win.
Former Middleweight contender Alexander Shlemenko will get another tune-up fight against Brett Cooper at Bellator 44. The Russian Shlemenko will be a bargain at -210 at 5Dimes and should make quick work of Brett Cooper, who has lost two of his last five fights. Cooper has a puncher’s chance to win, but at only +175 for the upset we’re not going to go against the favorite in this fight.
In another matchup that could easily go either way Anthony Morrison will face Bryan Goldsby. Both fighters have suffered numerous losses in the last couple of years and this one will likely come down to who wants it the most. Goldsby will be the underdog at a -225 price at 5Dimes while Morrison will pay +185 at Bovada.
