Marlon Sandro looks to claim Bellator’s featherweight title against fast-rising Pat Curran Saturday in Bellator 48.
Curran meanwhile looks to become the first Bellator fighter to hold titles in two weight classes.
A star in Japan recently in the Sengoku Raiden Championships and in the Shooto Brazil series before that, Sandro is making waves in the USA with Bellator. He is 19-2 with his only coming against heralded stars Michihiro Omigawa and Hatsu Hioki.
Sandro, a 34-year-old Brazilian, is a slight -120 favorite in what is essentially an even-odds battle at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. He has never been stopped in MMA action.

Curran is -110 and has won two straight since a five-round decision loss to tough Eddie Alvarez (at lightweight) at Bellator 39. He was Bellator’s Season 2 winner at lightweight before moving down to 145 pounds.
The rest of the card features some big names trying to make big comebacks. Cole Konrad, Bellator’s reigning heavyweight champ, fights Paul Buentello in a scrap where Konrad is a huge -800 favorite. Buentello is a +500 underdog on the Bellator 48 odds menu at .
Former UFC heavyweight champ Ricco Rodriguez (he defeated Randy Couture way back at UFC 39 in 2002) faces Nik Fekete. Rodriguez has won 10 in a row and is -360 while Fekete (nicknamed Machete) is +270.
In another key fight, unbeaten lightweight Rene Nazare is a huge -1300 favorite to take out Juan Barrrantes. And there’s a good reason. The Costa Rican Barrantes has lost five of seven fights and has just one fight (a two-minute punch-out loss to Antonio Carvalho) in the past 30 months.
Meanwhile Nazare is proving himself at lightweight in Bellator.
