McGregor vs Ferguson Betting Odds

What is next for Conor McGregor?

The UFC lightweight champion has seemingly endless career options sitting right in front of him. Does McGregor take a trilogy bout with Nate Diaz? Does he decide to stick to boxing andtake on Paulie Malignaggi? Or does he come back to the UFC to defend his 155-pound crown against Tony Ferguson?

The latter is certainly the hope for many hard-core MMA fans, as McGregor vs Ferguson would provide an endless cycle of quotes and social media fodder leading into what should be a legitimately intriguing fight. With that hope in mind, online sportsbook Sportsbook has released odds on a potential title unification bout between “The Notorious One” and “El Cucuy.”

McGregor hit the board at -165 with Ferguson coming back at +135.

McGregor has not stepped foot inside the Octagon since UFC 205 on November 12, 2015, when he completely dominated then-champion Eddie Alvarez to claim the gold. Since then, McGregor famously took to the squared circle to face undefeated professional boxer Floyd Mayweather.

Though the losing effort to “Money” might be the most recent memory of McGregor, do not forget he is legitimately one of the best MMA practitioners on the planet. His movement, power and precision are nearly unparalleled. In addition, we have seen him become more measured in his approach, making the Irishman even more terrifying while striking.

Ferguson is riding a ridiculous 10-fight winning streak with seven of those coming via stoppage. “El Cucuy” is an aggressive fighter who likes to push the pace behind his long striking game. His technique is unpredictable and he possesses legitimate fight-finishing ability both on the feet and on the ground.

Seeing these two masters of footwork and striking go after each other is a dream MMA matchup. Now we just hope that comes to fruition.
