Jones Odds Off: Cormier Johnson Opens

Jon Jones’ latest brush with trouble has earned him a UFC suspension and he is now off the May 23 UFC 187 card.

Instead, Anthony Johnson will battle Daniel Cormier for the Light Heavyweight belt vacated by Jones after he was charged in a New Mexico hit-and-run accident that injured a woman.

And surprisingly, Cormier opened as a solid -150 favorite at Sportsbook this morning. Johnson was priced at +120 (meaning a $100 wager would pay out a $120 profit).

Cormier lost a decision to Jones in a recent title match and now gets a second shot at powerful Johnson.

“We expect this line will move closer to even odds as the fight nears,” said Jack Randall of OddsShark.com.

Online sportsbook Sportsbook opened Cormier as a slimmer favorite at -130, with Rumble Johnson at -110. With Jon Jones betting off the table for the foreseeable future, MMA fans will see if the Cormier vs Johnson odds at UFC 187 can take up the slack and generate a similar buzz.
