Jones vs. Gustafsson Rematch Odds
There is no venue, there is no date, there is not even any confirmation that the fight will happen.
But the rematch of Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson already has odds and the champion Jones is favored again, according to one online sportsbook.
The line opened Tuesday at Bovada with Jones a -450 favorite and Gustafsson +325 as the underdog. The first scrap, at UFC 165 in Toronto, was an instant classic and praised as the greatest light heavyweight fight of all time.
Jones won a narrow decision, but Gustafsson carved up the champion's face and detroyed his aura of invincibility.
UFC officials often bend to the public demands for rematches (and to the PPV dollars that accompany them), even after promising title shots to other fighters. In this case, Glover Teixeira could lose his title shot and have to fight again in the interim.
Any rematch would not take place until 2014 as the calendar for title shots and PPV events is stacked for the rest of 2013.
Another huge rematch - Chris Weidman vs Anderson Silva II - goes Dec. 28. Silva is a slight favorite to recapture the belt he lost while messing around with the unbeaten Weidman. The co-Main Event is Ultimate Fighter coaches Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate.
Also pending in October is the third fight in the Cain Velasquez vs Junior dos Santos trilogy. Velasquez is favored to retain his belt at Bovada.
Jon "Bones" Jones -450
Alexander "The Mauler" Gustafsson +325
