MMA Betting Odds: UFC 147 Preview
MMA betting fans will be treated to two events this weekend, including a UFC 147 pay-per-view card on Saturday.
In the headliner of UFC 147 two former champions will battle for the second time when Wanderlei Silva fights in his native Brazil against former UFC Middleweight champion Rich Franklin. UFC odds on this fight are closely handicapped despite Franklin winning via unanimous decision last time.
Oddsmakers at 5Dimes currently have Franklin as a -165 favorite. That price looks like a great bargain considering he’s already beaten Silva and will likely be able to adjust his game plan better than his aggressive, predictable opponent.
The Silva upset will currently only pay +145 at 5Dimes, even after it was announced the fight would happen at a catchweight of 190 pounds (instead of 185 for the middleweight division).
UFC 147 Odds - Franklin vs Silva II (lines from 5Dimes as of Thursday):
Marcos Vinicius Borges Pancini
Anistavio Medeiros de Figueiredo
Anthony Waldburger 200
Brian Ebersole -240
Mike Russow 400
Fabricio Werdum -500
Yuri Alcantara -280
Hacran Dias 220
Rony Mariano Bezerra -280
Godofredo Castro 220
Cezar Ferreira -260
Sergio Moraes 200
Rich Franklin -170
Wanderlei Silva 150
Mike Russow gets the biggest opportunity of his long MMA career when he faces one of the top Heavyweights in the world in Fabricio Werdum. Russow will come with a big payout of +400 at 5Dimes, but based on the information on each fighter that bet is not recommended.
Werdum is an elite ground fighter with vastly improved striking skills. He should be able to control the fight regardless of where it goes and seems worth the Bovada UFC odds price of -500. It’s difficult to imagine how Werdum could lose this fight and he probably should have been scheduled against a stronger opponent.
In a Featherweight fight Yuri Alcanara will put his 13-fight win streak on the line against the elite ground game of Hacran Dias. Both fighters will be fighting in their native Brazil, but it’s Alcantara that gets the nod as the -300 favorite at 5Dimes.
He will be in tough against Dias, who has his own eight-fight win streak going. Dias will currently pay UFC odds of +220 at 5Dimes and could be the best bet for an upset option on the UFC 147 fight card.
