The final event of the Strikeforce fight promotion will go down this weekend and action is available for MMA betting fans on the entire main card at most sportsbooks.
Much of the fight talent featured on this card will be integrated into the UFC fold after the event is complete, including main-event combatants Nate Marquardt and Tarec Saffiedine. In the co-main event Heavyweight contender Daniel Cormier will also be looking to impress before moving on to UFC competition later in 2013.
Marquardt is currently a heavy favourite to beat Saffiedine and retain the Strikeforce Welterweight title. Oddsmakers at 5Dimes are currently offering MMA betting action on Marquardt at -300, while Saffiedine will pay Strikeforce odds of +200. Those lines have moved a bit with the price on Marquardt dropping from an initial -350 option.
As long as Marquardt can pass the drug testing he should be able to walk through Saffiedine without too many problems for what will likely be a third-round or fourth-round KO victory.
Daniel Cormier will look to have one more impressive performance when he steps into the cage against veteran Dion Staring. Cormier is undefeated and considered one of the top Heavyweights in the world while Staring has put together a six-fight win streak.
Cormier should have little difficulty as the 5Dimes Strikeforce odds -2000 favorite and will likely finish Staring in the first round. If you like longshot bets Staring will pay +1000 for the upset, and when it comes to Heavyweights anything can happen in a fight.
Mike Kyle will have to beat the odds as the +300 underdog against Dream Light Heavyweight champ Gegard Mousasi. Kyle is 1-1-1 in his last three fights and will be in tough in this one. The -420 option on Mousasi looks like a fair price when one considers that he’s superior to his opponent in every aspect of the fight game.
