MMA action is on tap once again this weekend as Strikeforce Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey defends her title for the first time against Canadian standout Sarah Kaufman.
Action is available on three fights on the Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman card, and each fight is handicapped with a big favorite. In the main event has an MMA odds price of -600 on the champion to defend her title, while a Kaufman upset would pay as much as +450 at 5Dimes.
Rousey’s judo skills are above and beyond anything that female MMA has ever seen, and unless Kaufman has developed elite grappling skills in the last couple of months she will likely be controlled and submitted inside of the first minute of the first round.
5Dimes is offering six different prop bets, the most interesting being the -320 line that Rousey finishes the fight inside the distance. None of her five fights have reached the second round, and unless Kaufman can land a heavy shot to Rousey’s head this fight should have similar results to all the other Rousey action we’ve seen.
Derek Brunson will look to get back to his winning ways when he steps into the cage against the former Strikeforce Middleweight champ Ronaldo Souza. With only 10 professional fights, Brunson is currently handicapped as a +400 underdoog on the MMA odds at 5Dimes. Souza is currently a -500 favorite and should dominate him on the ground and eventually score a submission win.
The other action on the Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman card is a Welterweight battle between Roger Bowling and Tarec Saffiedine. Bowling has two KO wins in his last two fights, but it’s Saffiedine who’s currently handicapped as a -500 favorite.
With elite kickboxing skills Saffiedine will surely dominate any standing portion of the fight, and his blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu could be enough to give him the edge on the ground as well.
